Organizational Structure & Accountability
In January 2026 we will launch our new organisation and structure.
To ensure the effective, transparent, and locally-driven execution of our initiatives, NORA will be operating with a clear, two-tiered non-profit structure. This model guarantees that all financial resources are managed professionally in Denmark while all development work remains anchored locally in Madagascar.
NORA-International in Denmark
NORA-International, the Funding Agency, is the essential supporting body responsible for securing the financial resources that power our mission. Based in Denmark, this entity focuses on fundraising and resource mobilization through strategic engagement with:
- Corporate partners and companies
- Foundations and charitable trusts
- Public institutions in Denmark and internationally
- Private donations from individuals
The Funding Agency ensures all financial contributions are responsibly managed and channeled directly to support our Projects and Programs on the ground.
NORA-Madagascar on Nosy Boraha
NORA-Madagascar is the local, operational unit and Implementing Agency. They lead the daily development work, and ensure local anchorage in accordance with the NORA mission and values.
The teams daily on-the-ground presence provides immediate oversight, guaranteeing quality and accountability as well as community engagement, cultural relevance and long-term program sustainability.

Financial Commitment & Transparency
As a small, volunteer-driven organization, our administrative costs are minimal. Our commitment to financial rigor is demonstrated through a structured, external oversight model:
- Dual External Accountability: Both NORA-International (Denmark) and NORA-Madagascar utilize independent, external accounting firms to manage their finances, ensuring professional, third-party verification of all accounts.
- Defined Collaboration Processes: Clear, documented operational procedures govern the financial relationship between the two separate organizations, maintaining strict oversight and audit trails for all cross-border transactions.
- Rigorous Disbursements: We operate with a system of staged disbursements and monitoring. Funds are released to NORA-Madagascar in stages, and only after documented and verified milestones have been achieved, guaranteeing efficiency and accountability across all initiatives.

Our Projects
Ready to be Inspired?
Dive into our Projects, meet the Children, explore the Schools & Villages!
Our project in Sahasifototra, Ile Sainte Marie, installs solar lights around the public school. This enhances safety children and teachers.
The kitchen is being built through a true partnership that fosters community ownership from day one. In close collaboration with the school, a major part of the execution is supported by volunteers from the local community.
This initiative is designed to do more than just feed children; it’s about fueling their potential and creating a ripple effect of positive change for the entire community. We believe in the power of a single meal to transform young lives and uplift the whole village.
